Leo Higgins was born in Dublin in 1951. He is a founder member of the Sculptors’ Society of Ireland, now Visual Artists Ireland, and he is the director of Cast Foundry in Dublin. Higgins also lectures part time at N.C.A.D. in Dublin.
A self- taught sculptor, Higgins won the Oireachtas prize for Sculpture in 1984 and again in 1985. He specialises in bronze sculptures and has exhibited in many solo and group exhibitions across Ireland since 1978. These exhibitions include Oireachtas, Aer Rianta "Gateway to Art" at Dublin Airport and the RHA.
Over the years Higgins has won a number of awards for his sculptures and his work is included in many collections such as the Bank of Ireland, AIB, Irish Life, Institute of Chartered Accountants, to name but a few.
