Biography
"I mainly use the medium oil on board with gold and silver leaf which I feel adds movement and shifts with the intensity of light. I have a meticulous eye for detail. I like to infuse a harmony between the natural and conceptual to create works that are provocative and dramatic. I like to render my subjects to a timeless matter." - Gordon Harris (b.1977)

Irish contemporary painter, Gordon Harris, is regarded as one Ireland’s most promising figurative painters. Primarily using the medium of oil, Harris is best known  for his meticulously detailed, richly coloured, and translucently layered large scale paintings.

His main objective with these paintings is to render the soul within. Harris studies his subjects with enormous intensity, giving each portrait a strong intimate closeness; seeking harmony between the natural and conceptual to create works that are provocative and dramatic.

Through his work, He tries to hypnotize you with the emotion and humanity encapsulated in these paintings. These highly refined pieces are then finished with gold & silver leaf; he is an inspiring artist with a fascinating technique.

Harris has won numerous awards, exhibited in The National Gallery of Ireland, the RHA Dublin, and was shortlisted for the Hennessy Portrait Prize 2017 & Savills Prize 2018. His works are held in public & private collections in Ireland, United Kingdom, Japan, the USA and Monaco.
