Katharine Le Hardy (b. 1981) is a British landscape painter based in the Surrey Hills. Her practice centres on close observation of woodland and rural landscapes, exploring the subtle processes that shape the natural world over time. Through repeated engagement with particular places, she studies how light, atmosphere, and colour shift across the seasons.
Woodland environments are a recurring focus, where cycles of growth, decay, and renewal become a quiet reflection on broader patterns of life. Using layered paint and intuitive brushwork, Le Hardy seeks to capture both the physical presence and emotional resonance of the landscape. Her work has been exhibited widely throughout the UK over the last twenty years.
Katharine studied Fine Art BA Hons at the University of the West of England, Bristol (2000-2003) and her awards include winner Society of Women Artists (2019), Gilchrist Fisher Award (2007) and Royal Bath and West Scholarship (2007).
