Art by the bay: Sheen Falls Lodge hosts world-class art exhibition
Sheen Falls Lodge in Kenmare, Co Kerry, is set to provide the dramatic backdrop for a world-class art exhibition this autumn, as Gormleys brings works by some of the most iconic names in Irish and international art to the five-star retreat.
From now until October 12, the 300-acre estate will be transformed into an open-air gallery where guests and visitors can encounter striking life-size sculptures positioned across the lodge’s landscaped grounds, with pieces by Andy Warhol, Salvador Dalí and Patrick Rubinstein anchoring the line-up.
“This is the first time Gormleys will host an exhibition in Kerry, following the success of Art and Soul, Ireland’s biggest art and sculpture events, held at Castlemartyr Resort in Cork, The K Club in Kildare and Culloden Estate in Belfast,” said Oliver Gormley of Gormleys.
Adding a distinctly local note will be the work of celebrated Kerry-born artist Liam O’Neill. “One of Ireland’s most acclaimed artists, and proud Kerry native Liam O’Neill will debut a brand-new collection of sculptures, adding a special local dimension to the exhibition,” said Gormley.
Inside Sheen Falls Lodge, works by Warhol, Dalí and Rubinstein will be joined by those of celebrated Irish artists, their pieces displayed throughout the hotel’s interiors.
“Set on a private 300-acre estate along Kenmare Bay, the hotel provides direct access to the Ring of Kerry, the Beara peninsula, and the Wild Atlantic Way, inviting guests to explore Ireland’s most scenic landscapes.
“As a proud member of Relais & Châteaux, Sheen Falls Lodge was recently awarded Two Michelin Keys at the inaugural Michelin Guide ceremony, recognising excellence in service, hospitality and hotel design.”
The exhibition is open daily from 11am to 7pm, with some closures scheduled to accommodate private events. Admission is free.
