Liam O'Neill- New Sculpture Collection
Gormleys is delighted to present a new collection of bronze sculptures by one of Ireland’s most acclaimed artists, proud Kerry native Liam O’Neill.
Born in 1954, O’Neill hails from Corca Dhuibhne, Co. Kerry. This powerful new series draws on his childhood memories of watching his father at work, cutting turf on the mountain, hauling lobster pots by hand, and harvesting oats with a scythe.
These sculptures evoke an Ireland that has largely disappeared, yet still lives within living memory. They speak to those who remember, and to those who wish they could, a way of life only recently lost.
“The world has changed a lot since then. But for generations before, it hardly changed at all. Through these sculptures, I hope to pay homage to the people of the past. Like bronze, their memory will last forever,” says O’Neill.
The sculptures can be viewed in both our Belfast and Dublin galleries.
