Overview
John Redmond- Between the Lines, Gormleys Belfast

Gormleys presents a captivating exhibition by Irish contemporary artist John Redmond, former Creative Director of the Brown Thomas Group.

Best known for his bold use of colour, striking abstraction, and dynamic compositions, Redmond’s work explores the interplay between energy and form, drawing inspiration from both human and abstract elements. His work exudes his sense of optimism, influenced by his years of travel and love of architecture, design and fashion.

Influenced by the Bauhaus movement artists including Wassily Kandinsky and Paul Klee, Redmond’s abstract, geometric art has given him the artistic freedom to be more spontaneous with his ideas. This has led to his paintings having a mid-century modern feel, reminiscent of Bauhaus-inspired minimalism.

'Between the Lines' combines abstract geometric compositions with bold shapes and vibrant colours to create delicately balanced and aesthetically striking paintings.

Following his sell-out exhibition 'Timelines' in 2023, this latest exhibition showcases a series of new paintings that highlight his unique visual language, combining vivid palettes, rhythmic structures and geometric precision, inviting viewers into an immersive experience of colour, tone and balance.

‘Between the Lines’ takes place in our Belfast gallery from 8 – 28 November, with a preview in our Dublin gallery from 30 October – 1 November.
