Andy Warhol’s famous icons of the 20th century will take centre stage at Gormleys Fine Art Gallery, Belfast from Saturday 2nd March to Tuesday 19th March. The theme of the show is Portraits and Party Time which celebrates Warhol’s love of fame and celebrity but also makes reference to the legendary parties that took place in his studio which was known as The Factory.
The exhibition features 15 original screen prints by Warhol and is made up of 10 portraits and 5 still life works which are linked to his party lifestyle. Among the cast of famous portraits on on show will be a self-portrait of Warhol himself along with Hollywood greats such as Ingrid Bergman, Greta Garbo and Marilyn Monroe. There is also works which feature sporting legends with portraits of footballer Pelé and boxer Muhammad Ali.
